FaceTime Announces Availability of IMAuditor 4.0 for Streamlined Electronic Communications Regulatory Compliance Workflow

FaceTime Builds on Industry-Leading Compliance Solution with New Features Requested by over 100 Government-Regulated Enterprise Customers

New York, NY-June 17, 2003 -- Building upon over four years of experience delivering enterprise infrastructure and business solutions that extend the power of instant messaging (IM) and other forms of real-time communications in the enterprise, FaceTime Communications today announced the availability of IMAuditor 4.0 for greater control of IM to ensure proper compliance with the latest government regulations in addition to enhanced productivity features and integration capabilities. IMAuditor 4.0 expands on FaceTime's award-winning and market-leading IMAuditor 3.0, deployed by over 100 financial services organizations, to provide new regulatory compliance workflow capabilities, including enhanced logging, auditing, and reporting of all instant messaging (IM) traffic for any government-regulated industry. The announcement was made at the Securities Industry Association's Technology Management Conference & Exhibit being held this week in New York City.

"We're pleased to see FaceTime continue to enhance the functionality of IMAuditor," said Thomas Weisel Partners Director of Compliance Pam Housley, recently awarded the distinction of Compliance Officer of the Year by Institutional Investor's Compliance Reporter, for her early leadership in identifying instant messaging as an important electronic communication requiring compliance monitoring and auditing. "FaceTime continues to listen to the needs of their customers and deliver solutions that address all of our IM regulatory compliance needs."

"As an early advocate of the regulatory compliance implications of logging, archiving and supervision of electronic communications, I am pleased to see how FaceTime's leadership has helped protect the integrity of the capital markets as well as the American investor," said Henry Wolfgang Carter, former chief compliance officer and assistant general counsel of E*TRADE. "FaceTime's technological innovation, detailed understanding of the current regulatory issues surrounding IM, and ability to serve compliance officer needs in this new era of regulation, technology and compliance is a remarkable achievement."

IMAuditor extends the real-time management and control capabilities of FaceTime IM Director (see yesterday's related FaceTime announcement) by providing specialized compliance features requested by FaceTime's leading finance, energy and healthcare customers to ensure consistent and reliable processes that meet regulatory compliance auditing workflow requirements. The product additionally enhances IT ease-of-use and end user productivity while providing seamless integration with FaceTime technology partner-enabled email content scanning, archiving, natural language processors and WORM drive storage infrastructure.

"Instant messaging use on multiple IM networks continues to explode rapidly throughout businesses where time sensitivity is critical, such as the financial services community where regulatory compliance concerns are critically important," said FaceTime CEO Glen D. Vondrick. "As the industry standard in IM compliance, with a proven history of leadership and the ability to integrate into any existing compliance workflow infrastructure, FaceTime maintains its commitment to providing regulated businesses with the power to safely leverage the advantages of real-time electronic communications, which are essential to a competitive business."

While IM Director provides IM management features to ensure compliance with internal HR, legal, and other internal business policies in addition to the USA Patriot Act, IMAuditor extends these capabilities to ensure any IM use by regulated businesses complies with the appropriate regulatory laws and governing bodies. These include:

For Energy Companies:
  • Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
For Financial Services Institutions:
  • National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD)
  • New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
For Government Agencies:
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5015
For Healthcare Companies:
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
For Publicly Traded Companies:
  • Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOA)
  • Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
Key New Capabilities of IMAuditor 4.0 Include:

  • Reports - Empowers IT to view the company's IM usage patterns and statistics in real time through comprehensive visual reports; includes the ability to identify groups, employees and outsiders that are most active; uses pie charts and bar graphs to navigate among the multitude of statistics organized by IM network, group and employee
  • Enhanced Directory Integration Capabilities
  • Client Version Control - Allows IT to mandate the use of and standardize desktops on sanctioned consumer IM clients
  • Alerts - Friendly text messages sent to users when business policies are violated
  • External Communication Management - Enables IT to administer whether or not employees can communicate with non-employees (external users) at the enterprise, group and user levels
For Employees/Traders:
  • Personal IM Reports - Enables traders and brokers to reference their IM conversations in support of their trading activity
