Press Release
FaceTime Announces Support for Microsoft® Office Live Communications Server 2005
FaceTime Expands Security and Compliance Management for Live Communications
Server 2005 Instant Messaging Environments
FOSTER CITY, Calif. - October 26, 2004 - FaceTime Communications, the leading
provider of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM)
and peer-to-peer (P2P) applications, today announced its support for Microsoft®
Office Live Communications Server 2005 and the universal reach provided by Live
Communication Server 2005's future connectivity with MSN, AIM, and Yahoo!.
Available immediately, FaceTime's IMAuditor compliance solution and RTG500
security appliance will allow organizations to set policies on IM and P2P use,
block rogue real-time communications, track and manage approved IM use, and
scan all IM traffic for viruses and other malicious code.
"With Live Communications Server 2005's enterprise-to-enterprise direct
federation, as well as connectivity to the three major public IM networks, we
will launch a new era for collaborative workflow," said Marc Sanders, Senior
Product Manager, Real-Time Collaboration, at Microsoft. "With FaceTime's
support for Live Communications Server 2005, customers get the security and
compliance management they need to embrace the full power of IM and presence in
the enterprise."
Live Communications Server 2005 is a real-time communications platform for
corporate multimodal communication, such as voice, video, IM, deep presence,
application sharing, and collaboration. FaceTime's solutions are designed to
complement and extend the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005
environment, utilizing Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server.
FaceTime's solutions:
-
Offer the broadest protocol support available.
-
Are SESA (Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture) and Cisco AVVID certified.
-
Secure and enforce usage policies for all forms of P2P and IM, including
client, mobile, and browser-based IM.
-
Are based on reliable code that has withstood rigorous testing by the world's
largest banks and other large enterprises for more than five years.
FaceTime's solutions include the following features and capabilities:
-
Discovery, enabling a company to identify IM, P2P and VoIP usage as a first
step towards securing, managing, and controlling their appropriate usage.
-
Migration and enforcement tools, enabling the migration of ad hoc IM usage to
the IT standard and supported IM infrastructure, namely Live Communications
Server 2005.
-
Integrated defense-in-depth with perimeter and LAN products, ensuring that user
policy management and compliance are applied at the individual, group, and
enterprise-wide levels in real time. FaceTime offers the industry's only
integrated two-tier solution.
-
Blocking of unauthorized IM and P2P usage, controlling the increased "surface
area" for security attacks and enforcing real-time communication security
policies.
-
IM standardization, ensuring that all IM usage is through the Live
Communications Server 2005 Access Proxy, limiting access to those networks that
are authorized by IT.
-
Meeting corporate, HR, and regulatory compliance requirements through a rich
set of content filtering, auditing, review, and workflow capabilities for
regulated and non-regulated industries.
-
Virus scanning, enabling companies to scan files transferred over IM for
malicious code and exploits.
-
SPIM blocking, using FaceTime's patent-pending "challenge-response" technology
to block unsolicited bulk messages.
-
Archival and storage, expanding companies' ability to securely capture, audit,
and archive all instant messages either as a stand-alone record within
FaceTime's solutions or exported to leading e-mail archival and storage
systems.
-
Non-repudiation and tamper-prevention, securing archived messages to prevent
deletion or modification of stored messages.
"With the release of Live Communications Server 2005, organizations now have
every reason to embrace Enterprise IM," said Dan Schrader, director of product
marketing at FaceTime. "Live Communication Server 2005's interconnectivity with
the public networks provides customers with the power of universal reach but
essentially invites 350 million IM users onto their networks. FaceTime's
two-pronged, defense-in-depth approach is the only solution that provides Live
Communications Server 2005 customers with complete IM and P2P security and
compliance management."
