Leading Study Ranks FaceTime No. 1 in Enterprise Instant Messaging Management
FaceTime Gets Top Ranking Based on Market Revenue for Third Consecutive Year,
and Top Ranking for EIM Product Support and Alliances
FOSTER CITY, CALIF. - October 18, 2006 - A new study from leading IT
market research and advisory firm IDC has named FaceTime Communications the
market share leader among instant messaging management vendors for the third
consecutive year based on worldwide revenues in 2005 - up 51 percent from the previous year.
FaceTime enables the safe and productive use of greynets including instant
messaging and other real-time communications applications. FaceTime solutions
allow organizations to block in-bound malware threats, prevent information
leakage and maintain corporate and regulatory compliance requirements while
realizing the productivity and cost saving benefits of real-time
communications.
The IDC study, issued this month, is called "Worldwide Enterprise Instant
Messaging Applications and Management Products 2006-2010 Forecast and 2005
Vendor Shares: IM Is on Its Way into the Workplace" (IDC #203848, October
2006). In this study, IDC forecasts that the number of enterprise instant
messaging application seats will more than triple from just over 50 million in
2006 to more than 180 million in 2010.
"This study presents our view of the relative market positioning of the top EIM
management product vendors based on key technology, support and business
metrics," said Mark Levitt, program VP for Collaborative Computing and the
Enterprise Workplace. "FaceTime's performance in these areas places the company
firmly in a leadership position for its alignment with current market
opportunities and its ability to gain share in the future in this fast-growing
market."
In addition to its No. 1 market share ranking for the third consecutive year,
IDC ranked FaceTime No. 1 in EIM product support and alliances. FaceTime
partners with all leading EIM vendors and supports a broad base of enterprise
instant messaging applications including Microsoft's Live Communications Server
2005, IBM® Lotus® Sametime® 7.5 and Jabber XCP 5.1. FaceTime's leadership
position on the IDC Leadership Grid is due to its strong performance on all 11
attributes measured in the IDC report: ability to set industry standards,
market share, potential for market dominance, potential for place or show,
product breadth and service, EIM product support/alliances, application
development/customization, global presence, management/protection beyond IM,
flexible deployment and pricing options and customers outside of core
verticals.
"FaceTime has the strongest commitment to the IM management market, with more
than two times the engineering, research, and support resources as other
dedicated IM management vendors," said Kailash Ambwani, president and CEO of
FaceTime Communications. "This investment enables FaceTime to continually
anticipate and exceed the expectations of our customers, and to extend our
market leadership as instant messaging becomes as commonplace in organizations
as e-mail."
