Press Release
FaceTime Provides Perimeter Security and Deep Compliance for IBM Lotus Sametime Deployments
Support for Sametime 8.0 includes information leak prevention, mobile Blackberry security and compliance, advanced text search and retrieval
LOTUSPHERE, ORLANDO, FL - January 19, 2009 - FaceTime Communications, an
advanced level ISV member of IBM PartnerWorld and the leading provider of
solutions to secure and manage unified communications in the enterprise, is
exhibiting this week at Lotusphere at Pedestal 322. FaceTime enhances security
and compliance for IBM Lotus Sametime 8.0.
FaceTime's IMAuditor records conversations from Lotus Sametime clients as well
as chat from Lotus Sametime meeting rooms, scanning and applying established
policies to all the popular file types transferred over Lotus Sametime, as well
as public instant messaging networks such as AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, GoogleTalk
and MSN. The system analyzes and detects sensitive or confidential information
in both messages and file attachments, can prevent transmission of the
information, and will warn the user about established company policy regarding
the sharing of corporate intellectual property.
Organizations that choose to connect with partners or other external parties
via the Lotus Sametime gateway are susceptible to increased risk from these
third party networks. FaceTime provides the ability to control access, block
inbound malware over IM and other channels, prevent information leakage and
enforce Lotus Sametime usage by blocking the use of native public instant
messaging tools, thus protecting an organization's investment in Lotus
Sametime.
FaceTime also provides detailed reporting on Lotus Sametime usage, security
violations, compliance violations and transcript reviews. Specific controls
include user and group level policy configuration, including the ability to
enable ethical boundaries. FaceTime is the only security solution to perform
anti-virus scanning on file transfers over Lotus Sametime as well as archiving
the content and the actual the file transfer.
In an information leak prevention survey conducted in mid-2008 for FaceTime by
Osterman Research, nearly 40 percent of IT staff at mid- to large-sized
organizations in North America said they believed that unintentional leaks by
employees are a bigger threat to their data security than spyware or malicious
software, and 57 percent believe their corporate data is not adequately
protected from leaks via IM and/or unified communications.
The survey also revealed that nearly 50 percent of IT managers are very
concerned about information leak prevention in their current or planned unified
communications implementations and 23 percent of those view it as a top
priority. Conversely, only 16 percent of respondents said the issue of
information leak prevention is not on their radar, and less than 10 percent
said they have no plans for unified communications deployment.

BlackBerry management, compliance and security - policies are extended to
mobile workers using BlackBerry devices within an Lotus Sametime environment
